The Les’ Kurbas SCTA library numbers close to 4500 volumes. The library’s core holdings were donated by Les’ Stepanovych Taniuk. The available holdings represent a classic example of a shistdesiatnyk’s (a 1960s intellectual’s) library. This core has been augmented by a large number of folios, presentation editions, art books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books, etc. The holdings represent a wide specter of world, Russian, and Ukrainian literary texts: Goethe, Dickens, Defoe in the original, rare late 19th century editions of Ibsen, Tolstoy, Hauptmann, and Hamsun. The Lives of Famous People series is represented almost in its entirety. An important part of the collection consists of a good number of books in the history, theory, and practice of theatre.
