ACADEMIC HERALD
Theatre: continuum, codes, paradoxes of interpretation
No. 1, 2006
ISBN 966-96527-5-8
The Les’ Kurbas State Centre for Theatre Arts is initiating
an academic herald series in which contemporary theory and practice,
authorial-directorial techniques, hypotheses, risks, “open searches”,
and the provocation of non-standard sensations will intersect
and find their place. The herald’s structure is comprised of
a theoretical section proposing fundamental scholarship along
with sections in topical criticism, master-class practices,
a “straight talk” section, and an “open area”. Each section
is preceded by a preamble proposing conventions for reading
the texts. Each section has its own curator. The current issue
of the herald has been prepared by Centre staff. In the future
we invite talented individuals and those interested in new horizons
of interpreting our life in general to participate. New authors
will preferably possess a taste for new theory and for experimentation
as such.
